Summer is in full swing over here. We have already finished one session of camp and swim. This year the kids did an activity summer camp with a local school, and I can say we all loved it. They took an art class, and cooking and dance. Some of their art is even in this mini summer tour.
This year I chose to keep the red, white and blue mostly outdoors. However, I did lighten up the decor inside and added some more color to give our home a summer feel. Easy, and breezy. Let’s start on the front porch.
This flag banner was a steal last year from Walmart. Nothing says summer like flags. Plenty of flags.
This star spangled garland was a DIY from a couple years ago. It is simply small cut fabric tied around a strand of yard. Such and easy and inexpensive project and I love bringing it out every year.
Changing up the chalk board and the pillows on the porch is also a great seasonal update.
Now, lets head inside. Since we finished the concrete floors the living room, dining room area has changed a bit. I am working on a post highlighting the floor project. Right inside our entry is this window seat. And everyone is loving it.
This rainbow tassel pillow adds some summer color. It is made from a place mat from Target!
Seriously, everyone loves the window seat. I added touches of color throughout the living room. Nothing too much, just a subtle hint of some summer brights.
The color on this little cactus is a perfect compliment for the pillow on the couch.
Of course, I couldn’t go too bright. I just love the neutrals and white too much.
Since the carpet is all gone, the dining area is right behind the couch. Although everything is closer, it feels like more space somehow. Especially when we are all sitting around the table.
Not too many changes in the kitchen, but it is our favorite place to mix up some sweet lemonade.
Also, added these colorful plates to the platter rack. Thanks to my tiny artists.
Upstairs, there aren’t too many changes either. Mostly in the master bedroom. I just removed the darker colors, and the velvet and leather pillows. The light blues give me a more beachy feel. What’s more summer than the beach?
Those coral beads slung over the lamp are by far my favorite addition. So casual and easy, but such an impact.
I also lightened up the linens, by removing our extra quilt. We all agree it’s cozy.
In everyone else’s bedrooms, we also took off the winter linens. Here is a quick glace at the girls rooms.
I hope you enjoyed our little summer tour, you can see last year’s tour here. See you soon, and stay cool!!
These are some really cool ideas. 😀 Will make sure to try ’em. 🙂
