I was recently approached by JORD watches to try and review one of their beautiful wood watches.  I have to admit I’m not usually a watch wearer, so I was a little skeptical at first to accept and promote.  However, while exchanging correspondence back and forth with the company I discovered they are based out of St. Louis, Missouri.  My home town.  And as any true St. Louis-an would, I had to show them some support; and I am so happy I agreed! So they sent me a watch of my choice to review and we are coordinating on a GIVEAWAY for my readers, more information on that at the end of this post.

Ordering the watch online, I had to measure my wrist and submit my watch size. JORD provides a printable measuring guide for you to make this easier. First of all, the watch is so much more attractive in person, than in photos. When it arrived the packaging was so stunning;  even my husband said, “oh you have to take pictures of that!”.

Inside the packing box, the watch is tucked away in this beautiful wood storage case. Just beautiful, and such a unique watch.

The case has a place for you to store all the goodies that come with your watch. A cleaning cloth, humidity controller for the case, wood conditioning oil and extra links in case your watch size changes.  JORD assured me that the links can be added or removed by your own local watch or jewelry store.

The watch I choose is the Frankie 35 Series in Sandlewood and Slate.  I am a dark wood kind of gal, and I have to say that it although it is wood it resembles a supple, rich leather.  However in the AZ heat, I have a feeling the wood band will be more comfortable than leather.

When I tried on the watch the first thing I noticed is how light and comfortable it is. Plus, the latch is very simple, for you to put on and take off the watch yourself.  I also like that it’s not too fancy.  As a mom of 3, I can tell you fancy is not on the agenda right now.  I enjoy that I can wear this and check the time instead of my phone all the time. I think this is a piece that it can be dressed down, for a park play date or up (well as “up” as I get) for a girls night out.

I decided I would try out my new cool watch accessory at some fun events we had planned for July.  I wore it on our trip up North to Fools Hallow Lake, and Pinetop/Lakeside, AZ. It paired perfectly with some cabin plaid.  It’s so light weight I forgot I was even wearing while playing horseshoes with the kids.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed wearing it, since I’m not usually a watch person. However, it was perfect for the trip when I wanted to be “unplugged” a bit. I could ditch my phone and still know the time.
