Christmas Living Room 2016

Today I am excited to welcome you inside my holiday home.  The tree is up and it’s officially Christmas inside. This is by far my favorite holiday to decorate for.  We rarely have guests for Christmas, but the tree and all the holiday cheer just makes me feel like a kid again.  I also love the joy on my children’s faces when the lights are on.  It’s magical and they usually want them on day and night.  I hope you will take a look around enjoy what you see.

I have already done a detailed tour of the mantle, you can find it here:

Let’s start with the tree.  Since last year I had plans to stick to more neutrals. I pictured white with lots of silvers and golds.  Gold has been such a fave of mine this year.  Then I spotted some navy ornaments in my Christmas stash. I have also had a huge navy crush this year so I decided to add pops of that to the room. I kept my shelves fairly simple, ust adding some winter scenes in glass jars and fake snowballs in baskets.

I really packed on the layers with this tree.  We have an artificial tree, it is 9ft tall. This version as a mix of needles that I really like, and it does make it fuller than our previous tree.  However, there are still spaces.  I started by stuffing the empty spots with burlap garland and pom poms.  Then I added flocked stems to any other spaces.

Before adding small ornaments, I also placed bouquets of white flowers in the branches. Plus, giant snowflakes that I found at the Dollar Tree, then cascading ribbon in both silver and navy.  I also added skis from Target last year, and letters that spell NOEL.  There is a lot to see, but I like a full tree.  Can you tell?

Since you can’t leave the space under a tree empty, I layered some faux fur rugs around the base, and places some of my favorite things under.  An adorable winter dear, my olive bucket with wrapping paper, and a dough bowl full of extra ornaments

Don’t forget the gifts, do NOT look to closely at my wrapping skills.  They are lacking.  But there is nothing like a Christmas tree all lit up!

The best part of decorating; is cozying up under a warm blanket, turning on the Christmas music and enjoying the glow.   Thank you for stopping by. Merry Christmas!
