It’s 2017 – House before and afters plus new goals

Something about the a new year, makes everyone yearn or change and advancement.   I know I have gotten swept up in the hopes of a fresh start and start to doubt and compare myself.  Well, this year I am not trying to be better, or do better.  I am working on contentment and happiness in the now!

Something that really helped me come to the decision was some conversations with friends and a quote that really hit home. “Consider this, there are people who will never have what you have right now”.   So when making goals for this year, I decided…no goals!! I am going to see what the year holds for us and let God’s plans unfold.

I was on Zillow, the other night and came across photos of our home right before we bought it.  This was really and eye opener for me because, despite how much we have done I was focusing on what we still haven’t done.  So today I am looking back at the past 6 years and sharing the transformations.  Because now this house, is really our home.

Let’s start with the downstairs, where there have been some major changes!

We had the house repainted, and I happened to take this photo while the kids had made a mess o the front yard.  We have added shutters to the front window and plan on adding more to the second floor windows this year.

Essentially we have not changed much in the living room, besides furnishing it.  The paint is the same, but in the before it does look rather yellow and drab.  Also, the carpet was cleaned.

The downstairs bath also has received minimal attention, the lighting was replaced, although it isn’t shown in the before it was those standard builder row, exposed bulb lighting.

There were no photos of the guest room, but here is what we have done in this downstairs bedroom/office.

More on the guest room/office here.

Moving upstairs to the bedrooms. They were really just beige boxes.

My favorite and easiest make over was our master bath. Adding wood panels and changing out the large mirror was such a dramatic upgrade, I abandoned my original plan of painting the cabinets, for now.

How did we do it? Check out the full reveal here.

And my favorite place to sit, the front porch.
